Title
General information Peter Pan Holidayclub Foundation
Short introduction
Our foundation was established in 1996, more-or-less out of the blue when a transavia-purser came up with the idea to use our knowledge and contacts in the travel industry to organize an all inclusive, fully facilitated and sponsored holiday for a group of young people suffering from an illness or physical disability.
The idea immediately appealed to the transavia.com-staff population and a group of enthusiasts initiated the first steps. It appeared relatively easy to find a name for our initiative. Who does not know the fairytale character Peter Pan, the little boy that simply refuses to grow up, together with his friend Tinkerbell, flies along with children to the wonderful dreamy world of Neverland, where lots of adventures can be experienced. Subsequently, Peter Pan Holidayclub was born. We all know how wonderful it is to go away on holiday. Why not help others that need our support?
Our Objective
Our objective is to offer young people (age 12 to 19 years) that have to cope with disease or physical disability, the opportunity to have a fully facilitated and funded holiday. To give them a temporarily escape from the world of hospitals and the difficult circumstances that come with being ill or disabled. To a certain extent: we want to liberate them by giving them a happy holiday experience, together with fellow youngsters. Youngsters that generally have gone through the same experiences and therefor easily relate to each other. Simply a week filled with fun and relaxation.....away from the daily discomforts of being ill ...maybe even: being able to forget the illness......that's the essence of our objective.
How we do it
Peter Pan Holidayclub Foundation is run by a wide range of transavia.com-staff, voluntarily and in private time. All transavia.com-employees are able to support “Peter Pan” by means of financial donations, donation of holidays or individual support. Next to this, obviously we use public donations and sponsors. People, companies or institutions support us by financial means, goods or services. The flights to our destinations in the Mediterrenean for instance are fully sponsored by transavia.com. Although we need to mention that “Peter Pan” is a financially and legally independent entity. With regard tot the sponsoring of accommodation and excursions on our destinations, we cooperate closely with several well-known tour operator companies (f.i. TUI group, Thomas Cook Group).
One of the key elements of our concept is that we try to benefit from the lower load factors in airplane seats and hotels during off-peaks or low seasons in the European travel industry. Therefor we will preferably travel in the European pre-season (March-June) and post-season (september-October). This benefit, provides both airlines and tour operator companies the opportunity to sponsor our foundation, without having to compromise on the commercial targets. At the same time the company is able to contribute to our wellfare objective.

Patient group
Following consultations with several patient associations, hospitals and medical associations, we select a target group. These associations have nationwide coverage, which provides a wide national catchment area of potential Peter Pan-participants.
The criteria for participants are determined by Peter Pan in advance. For example, participants have to be able to travel without a doctor and/or medical-mental assistance, age and a stipulated degree of mobility. Also the patient association advises our foundation in the selection (for example, what is already organised for which target group and are there sufficient potential participants within a certain type of illness).
Hosting an travel management
From Peter Pan Vacationclub, the trip is hosted by 12 enthusiastic transavia.com-employees. These hosts go trough an extensive training program, because as already mentioned, no professional medical or mental assistance is provided to the group of youngsters. The training program is provided by an external training agency based on input from the patient and medical associations and members of the supervisory committee of the Peter Pan Foundation.
